Indian team captain Rohit Sharma scored his 17th Test half-century on the fourth day of the Ranchi Test on Monday and crossed the mark of 9000 runs in his first-class career.

 

Rohit Sharma gave a great start to the Indian team on the fourth day, which needed 192 runs to win the Test. The Indian captain scored 55 runs in 81 balls with the help of five fours and one six. He put pressure on England by scoring a half-century in the first session of the day.

Before this, Rohit Sharma completed his 4000 runs in his test career. He became the 17th Indian player to cross this figure. The half-century of the second innings was important for the Indian captain because during this he also crossed the mark of 1000 test runs against England.

 

India's troubles increased

Chasing the target of 192 runs, the Indian team lost the first wicket for 84 runs when Root got Yashasvi Jaiswal (37) caught out by Anderson. But from here the Indian innings faltered and lost five wickets for 120 runs. Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan could not even open accounts. Shoaib Bashir from England gave India a headache by taking three wickets.

 

Till the time of writing the news, the Indian team is 66 runs away from G, while it has five wickets left. Shubman Gill 19* and Dhruv Jurail 6* are struggling against the English bowlers.
