On the occasion of Diwali, Indian batsmen created fireworks with their bat against the Netherlands at Chinnaswamy ground in Bengaluru. KL Rahul scored the fastest century for India in the ODI World Cup, while Shreyas Iyer also destroyed the bowling attack of the Netherlands.

Rohit and Shubman gave a strong start to the team, while Kohli also scored a half-century. Team India has created history in the ODI World Cup based on top-class shows by Indian batsmen. At the same time, Iyer and Rahul have set a new world record by making a partnership of 208 runs.

Rahul-Iyer made a world record

The bowling attack of the Netherlands became a joke in front of the pair of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Rahul faced 40 balls to complete his first fifty, but the Indian batsman completed his next fifty in just 22 balls. Rahul scored a century on 62 balls, while Shreyas Iyer played an unbeaten inning of 128 runs on 94 balls. Both added 208 runs for the fourth wicket. This is also the biggest partnership ever made for the fourth wicket in a 50-over World Cup.

This feat happened for the first time

The performance of the Indian top order against the Netherlands was unmatched. Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli scored half-centuries, while KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer scored centuries. Five batsmen from India crossed the fifty mark in this match. This is the first time in the history of the ODI World Cup that 5 batsmen of a team have scored fifty-plus.

Rohit set a world record for sixes

In ODI cricket, Rohit Sharma has become the batsman to hit the most sixes in a calendar year. Hitman has hit a total of 60 sixes so far in the year 2023. Rohit achieved this special feat by hitting two sixes against the Netherlands. In this matter, he has left behind AB de Villiers, who had scored 58 sixes in the year 2015. At the same time, Rohit has now gone ahead of Chris Gayle who hit 56 sixes in 2019.

Kohli equaled Sachin

Virat Kohli has reached par with Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring the most half-centuries in a single season of the ODI World Cup. Sachin had scored 7 fifties in the World Cup played in 2003. At the same time, Kohli has also scored seven half-centuries in this World Cup. Against Netherlands, Kohli played a brilliant inning of 51 runs in 56 balls. Shakib Al Hasan also scored 7 fifties in the 2019 World Cup. Kohli hit 5 fours and a six in his innings before getting out.
