After this, the ship was allowed to arrive at Hambantota Port from 16 to 22 August. India has already rejected China's statement, which said that India put pressure on Sri Lanka to stop the Chinese ship from going to Hambantota Port. India had said that Sri Lanka is a sovereign country and takes its own independent decisions.
The permission was given on the condition that it would keep the Automatic Identification System (AIS) operational within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Sri Lanka and that no scientific research would be conducted in Sri Lankan waters.
