Despite India's opposition, the Chinese ship camped for a week at Sri Lanka's Hambantota Port. For which India had protested. Later on in this matter, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ki Zhenhong accused India of interfering in Sri Lanka's internal affairs. Reversing this statement of the Chinese ambassador, India has lambasted China.
The Indian High Commission in Colombo tweeted on Saturday – Sri Lanka needs support, not any pressure or unnecessary controversies to fulfill the agenda of another country. The High Commission called it a violation of diplomatic etiquette. At the same time, he reprimanded the Chinese diplomat, saying that his attitude towards Sri Lanka's northern neighbor (India) may be influenced by the behavior of his own country.
Also targeted on Chinese debt
High Commission said- We assure them that India is very different. The High Commission also targeted China and said – the agenda driven by opacity and debt is a big challenge, especially for small countries. We should take lessons from recent events.
Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ki Zhenhong made a statement regarding the arrival of Yuan Wang 5 ship to Hambantota. In this, without directly naming India, Zhenhong said that the concerns about security without any evidence on the part of some forces are a complete interference with the sovereignty and independence of Sri Lanka. Zhenhong said- Violation of Sri Lanka's national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity will not be tolerated.
The Chinese ship was present at Hambantota port for a week
Earlier this Chinese ship was expected to reach Hambantota on 11 August. India had lodged a protest with Sri Lanka regarding this spy ship. After this, the ship was allowed to arrive at Hambantota Port from 16 to 22 August. India has already rejected China's statement, which said that India put pressure on Sri Lanka to stop the Chinese ship from going to Hambantota Port. India had said that Sri Lanka is a sovereign country and takes its own independent decisions.
The permission was given on the condition that it would keep the Automatic Identification System (AIS) operational within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Sri Lanka and that no scientific research would be conducted in Sri Lankan waters. India feared that Chinese ship's tracking systems could spy on major military and nuclear bases in South India en route to the Sri Lankan port.
