United Nations projections suggest that the global population could increase to about 8.5 billion (8.5 billion) in 2030, 9.7 billion (9.7 billion) in 2050, and over 10 billion (10.4 billion) in 2100.

 

The annual world population report released on Monday also said that for the first time since 1950, global population growth fell below one percent in 2020.

China and India account for the majority of the population in these two regions with a population of over 1.4 billion (billion) each.

More than half of the projected increase in the global population by 2050 will be concentrated in just eight countries. These countries are Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, and Tanzania. At the same time, according to UN estimates, India is projected to surpass China as the world's most populous country during 2023.

 

Fertility decline in many countries

According to the United Nations report, fertility has declined in many countries. The population is growing at the slowest rate since 1950. In the year 2020, it has come down to less than one percent.
