Team India's senior opener and Shikhar Dhawan, who is captaining the ODI series against West Indies in the absence of Rohit Sharma, said that he does not mind criticism. Dhawan said that what people say about his form does not matter to him. There has also been a lot of discussion about Dhawan's place on the team and some young players are also sitting ready to take his place. Dhawan said that he has been facing criticism for almost 10 years and now it doesn't matter to him.

Players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested from the ODI series against West Indies. When Dhawan was asked about the criticism ahead of the 1st ODI against West Indies, he said, "What sounds strange, now it's been 10 years. People will keep talking and I will keep performing. If I had listened to him, I would not have been where I am.

Dhawan further said, 'I have experience, so I am not too worried about it. As long as I keep analyzing myself and improving my performance, I am not worried about anything else. I am a very positive person, according to me, positivity means believing in yourself and having confidence in yourself. I have had this thing in me since I started playing and I have achieved something that is why I am standing here. I would like to give my positivity to the young players.
