Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Weidong said that China-India relations not only have significance for the two countries but also have a very deep impact on the region and the world. The ambassador also made four proposals to improve bilateral relations between the two countries.

These proposals include promoting mutual understanding and trust, mutually beneficial cooperation, proper management of differences, and strengthening coordination and cooperation. The ambassador was addressing an event organized online on Tuesday to mark the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

He said that the 'Asian century' can be realized only through joint development and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and India, and through strengthening the solidarity and cooperation of India and other Asian countries.

In the aftermath of the eastern Ladakh standoff, India has consistently maintained that peace along the Line of Actual Control is vital for the overall development of relations. At the same time, India has also emphasized that the status of the border will determine the status of relations.

Last month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that relations between India and China are going through a tough phase after what Beijing did at the border. He also emphasized that if the two neighbors could not join hands, the dream of the 'Asian century' would not come true. "Next year, India will chair the SCO and G20 and China will support India in its work related to India along with other member countries," the envoy said.
