Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar on Wednesday condemned Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's remarks about India's minorities. He termed his statement as ridiculous and hypocritical.

Azar said that Khamenei preaches to others, while Iran itself is facing allegations of crushing people's freedom and violating human rights. He said, it is ridiculous that this fanatic leader is trying to preach to others, while it is crushing its people.

Khamenei, while addressing a religious gathering in Tehran on Monday, alleged that Muslims are being oppressed in Gaza, Myanmar, and India. He also said that the enemies of Islam have always tried to make us indifferent to our common identity.

At the same time, India reacted to Khamenei's remarks on Monday and strongly condemned them. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that any other country should consider its record before commenting on minorities in India. The ministry described his comments as a misunderstanding and unacceptable.

Azar also referred to recent events in Lebanon, where people have been displaced due to Hezbollah attacks. He said the Israeli government is committed to ensuring the safe return of displaced citizens. Speaking on cooperation between India and Israel in water management, Azar said Israel is a global leader in water innovation. He said Israel has set up 32 centers of excellence in India, which focus on water management.

He said, we have companies that have started production on Indian soil, which is contributing to India's water management system.
