Indian Army: First 3D printed housing ready for soldiers, constructed in Ahmedabad Cantt, know the specialty

The Indian Army has built the first 3D-printed housing for its soldiers. This residence built in Ahmedabad Cantt was inaugurated on Wednesday.

 

This 3D-printed house of ground and single storey adheres to the rules and green building standards of disaster-resistant and zone-3 earthquake areas. This is the first 3D-printed accommodation for Indian soldiers.

 

The army said on Thursday that 3D printers are used in this technique. It is based on a computerized three-dimensional design. In this, a 3D structure is prepared on a layer-by-layer basis from a special type of concrete as per a specially prepared design.

 

Use of 3D rapid construction technology

This unique house or residence has been constructed by the Military Engineering Service (MES). This house is a single storey. Indian Army officials said that it has been manufactured in collaboration with MICOB Pvt Ltd. It uses the latest 3D rapid construction technology.

The 3D-printed housing will rapidly meet the growing housing demand for military personnel. It is a symbol of rapid construction in modern times. This construction will also give a boost to the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' and is also proof of the Army's commitment to the campaign.

 

Construction was completed in just 12 weeks

According to the army, the construction of this house in 71 square meters i.e. about 765 square feet was completed in just 12 weeks. A garage has also been built in it. 3D printed foundation, wall, and slab were used in its construction. The Ahmedabad-based Army's Golden Katar Division initiated its construction. Many such houses will be built.
