Former Mumbai Indians spinner Harbhajan Singh has praised the leadership abilities of all-rounder Hardik Pandya ahead of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. Pandya is set to captain Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.
Before the auction held in December, Pandya was bought by Mumbai Indians through trading after captaining Gujarat Titans for two years. Just days before the IPL 2024 mini-auction, MI had announced Pandya as the new captain replacing Rohit Sharma.
Has proven his captaincy ability
Speaking to Star Sports, Harbhajan said that Pandya has proved his captaincy ability and has all the qualities of a good leader. Pandya led Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in 2022 and finished runners-up in 2023.
Helped in making Mumbai champion four times
It is noteworthy that Hardik Pandya won IPL titles with Mumbai Indians in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. After a poor season in 2021, MI released him. After this, he joined Gujarat Titans in the year 2022.
He returned to Mumbai in 2024. Pandya has been one of the leading all-rounders of the IPL in recent years, scoring 2,309 runs in 123 matches at an average of 30.38 and a strike rate of 145.86. He has scored 10 half-centuries, while also taking 53 wickets.
