The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) can start on 22 March. The opening match of IPL 2025 can be played between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the final match of IPL 2025 has been scheduled for May 25 in Kolkata itself. This time Guwahati and Dharamsala have been added as additional venues, which means that matches will be played at both these venues as well.

Last year's runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad will also start their campaign in IPL 2025 at their home ground. According to the report, SRH will face Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad on March 25.

Qualifier venues

Let us tell you that the wait for the official schedule of IPL 2025 continues. The BCCI has not released the schedule yet. The board has shared the dates of important matches with the franchises. Sources indicated that the final match will be played in the city of the defending champion as per IPL tradition. That is, the final will be played on May 25 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

It is already decided that the first qualifier and eliminator match will be played in Hyderabad while the second qualifier and final match will be played in Kolkata. Recall that after the special general meeting in Mumbai on January 12, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla advised that the IPL should start on March 23.

The board agreed to this.

However, the BCCI has changed these dates. According to the Cricbuzz report, the broadcasters requested to start on Saturday, which was accepted by the board. The full schedule of IPL 2025 will be released soon.

The 10 major venues of IPL 2025 are Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mullanpur, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata and Hyderabad. Guwahati and Dharamsala have also been added this season.

Rajasthan Royals will play as the home team in Guwahati as the franchise chose the North East city as its second home. The matches will be played here on March 26 and 30, in which Rajasthan Royals will face Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. Like last year, Dharamsala will host the matches of Punjab Kings. There are reports that three matches can be played in Dharamsala.
