New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) Unidentified assailants shot at the driver of a private travel company, deputing as chauffeur for the managing director of IRCTC, police said Monday.

Mohammad Haider, 35, was attacked around 9.30 p.m. Sunday in the parking area of the Delhi Cantonment railway Station.

Haider sustained bullet injuries in his right thigh and was rushed to a nearby hospital, from where he was discharged after treatment.

Police said the car belonged to Vivek Travels and was given on lease to A. K. Manocha, managing director of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

"At the time of the incident, Manocha was not in the car... It might be a case of personal rivalry. But we are yet to confirm whether the attackers' target was Manocha or Haider," police said.

A case of attempt to murder was registered in west Delhi's Naraina area, and a probe is in progress.

Police also said that the car had a sticker of the ministry of home affairs, but it had no link with the ministry.
