Continuing tensions between India and China increased once again. The armies of both countries first came face to face on 5 May. It was followed by violent clashes on the night of 15–16 June. Later the conversation started and the tension seemed to calm down a bit. But, now both the armies have come face to face.

After the skirmish in the Galvan Valley in Ladakh, India has approved several important defense deals. 5 Raphael from France also came to India amidst the ongoing tension from China. The most important decision that the government took amidst this tension was to allow the army to buy weapons.

On July 15, the Defense Ministry's Defense Acquisition Council, or DAC, allowed the three armies to buy weapons worth up to Rs 300 crore. This means that if the army wants to buy weapons or equipment up to 300 crore rupees at its level without the permission of the government. However, a time limit has also been fixed for this, under which the forces will have to place orders within 6 months. Its delivery should also be done within 1 year.

Apart from this, what are the defense deals the government has done since June 15? What to buy approved? Let's try to understand through this report ...

38,900 crore approved, 33 new aircraft will come from these

Realizing the need of the army, the DAC approved Rs 38 thousand 900 crore on 2 July. 33 fighter aircraft, missile systems, and defense equipment will be purchased from them.

The Air Force has also been approved to purchase 21 MiG-29s from Russia and 12 Sukhoi aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It will cost 18 thousand 148 crore rupees. Along with this, 59 MiG-29s will also be upgraded.

Missiles to hit 1 thousand km will be made

The DAC has also approved the construction of a long-range land-attack cruise missile. It is India's first long-range cruise missile, with a range of up to 1000 km.

Apart from this, a new regiment of indigenous multi-barrel rocket launcher Pinaka will also be ready. Pinaka's biggest feature is that it can fire 12 rockets in just 44 seconds.

Similarly, it has been decided to expedite the construction of 'Astra' missile. This will increase the strength of the Airforce and Navy. The weapon missile has a range of 160 km.

Mines for tanks will come to Plow, costing Rs 557 crores

On July 20, a decision was taken to buy 1,512 mines plau at the meeting of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The mine places being purchased for Rs 557 crore will be fitted on T-90 tanks. The advantage of this is that mines can be dug out only by staying on the tank.

The Ministry of Defense has signed the deal with Bharat Earth Movers Limited and by 2027 they will be able to mine mine. In this agreement, it is decided that 50% of the goods will be indigenous.

Heron will buy drone and spike-bomb from Israel

After the skirmish in Galvan, the government released an emergency fund of Rs 500 crore for the forces. Under this fund, the army is buying heron drones and spike anti-missiles from Israel. All three armies already own Heron drones.

The specialty of the Heron Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) drone is that it can fly continuously for two days at a time and can keep an eye on enemy movements from a height of 10 km.

The Army received 12 launchers and 200 spike missiles after the Balakot Airstrike last year. Apart from this, the process of procurement of Spice-2000 bombs, assault rifles, and missiles has already been initiated by the Army to deal with the situation on LAC. However, how long will it come and how much is being spent on it, it has not been told by the army or the government.

72 thousand assault rifles to be purchased from America

The Army is going to buy 72 thousand SIG 716 assault rifles from the US from the Emergency Fund itself. Already 72,000 rifles have been received from the US by the troops of the Northern Command and other operational areas. This will be the second batch of rifles.

The SIG 716 assault rifles are equipped with the latest technology of close and long combat. The INSAS rifles the army is using now have many complaints of magazine breakdown. The new rifles have no such problem.

Only 5.56x45 mm cartridges can be fired from INSAS rifles, while the SIG 716 rifle uses more powerful 7.62x51 mm cartridges.

Spent more than 45 thousand crores on the purchase of defense equipment in 2018-19

In March this year, in response to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Defense Shripad Naik had informed about the expenditure on defense equipment. He had told that the government spent 45 thousand 705 crore rupees on the purchase of defense equipment in 2018-19.

Not only this, according to the report of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, or Sipri, which came in March, India is the second country in the world, which purchases the most weapons. According to this report, between 2015 and 2019, Saudi Arabia purchased the highest 12% of the imports related to defense worldwide. India took 9.2% thereafter.

However, there is one more thing that even though India is importing defense, but our defense export is also increasing. That is, we are now selling defense equipment to other countries as well. According to the data on the Ministry of Defense, for the last 5 years

Our defense experts are continuously increasing.

According to the data available on the website, in 2020-21, the government has set a target to export defense of 15 thousand crore rupees. Out of this, the export of Rs 2 thousand 963 crore has also been done till 27 August.

In 2019-20, the country had exported defense worth 9 thousand 116 crore rupees, whereas earlier in 2018-19, defense exports of 8 thousand 320 crore rupees.
