Jammu Kashmir: MLAs clashed outside the assembly, a scuffle took place; huge uproar in the House over the Waqf law

There is a ruckus in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on the third day over the Waqf Act. National Conference MLAs protested strongly demanding a discussion on Waqf. After which there was a clash between the MLAs. Clashes broke out between the MLAs not only inside the assembly but also outside. At present, the proceedings of the House have been adjourned till 1 pm.

On the alleged allegations of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mehraj Malik in the assembly, BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa said that he has abused Hindus. We will not tolerate this. He has said that a Hindu sins applying tilak. We will answer him.

There was a clash between the MLAs in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly premises today. The proceedings of the House have been adjourned till 1 pm after the uproar by NC MLAs demanding a discussion on the Waqf Act.

At the same time, BJP MLAs are protesting outside the assembly against the state government demanding discussion on the issues of unemployment and daily wage laborers in the state. MLAs of both sides also clashed with each other during the demonstration on the assembly premises. Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma said that the government is running away from the discussion. Attempts are being made to divert from the issues.

 

Demand to repeal Waqf law

 

NC, Congress, and PDP members created a ruckus in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday demanding discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) introduced a new resolution in the Assembly. In which the central government was urged to repeal the Waqf (Amendment) Act, of 2025. At the same time, the house was adjourned for half an hour.

 

NC MLAs are just doing drama: Leader of Opposition.

 

Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma said that the NC MLA, who has also been the Deputy Chief Minister, said in the House that he will not let the proceedings of the Assembly continue. This has happened for the first time. It was like a fixed match between the MLAs of the Treasury Bench and the Chair. All this was to show the media gallery. This is an attempt to incite the religious sentiments of the poor children of Kashmir and hand them stones. The NC MLAs are just doing drama. Whereas, the NC MPs were missing during the discussion on the bill in the Lok Sabha. They were asked to state the media. These people only want to send their protest photos in Kashmir. Said, the CM welcomed Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju very well, even though he had tabled the Waqf Amendment Bill. This is a good thing for the CM.

 

The law should be discussed in the Assembly: Mubarak Gul.

NC MLA Mubarak Gul said that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim-dominated state. The Waqf law should be discussed in the Assembly. The people of the state are against this law. Said, should we keep our mouths shut by not discussing it? If the BJP is calling this bill good, then it should tell the House what it has for Muslims. Non-Muslim MPs have opposed this bill in the House. We also wanted to discuss the bill in the assembly, but the BJP MLAs resorted to scuffle.
