Japan will achieve counter-strike capability within 10 years

 

Japan, which has a reputation as a peaceful country, has adopted a new national security strategy this week. Under this, to prevent enemy attacks, it has been said to increase the capacity of counter-strike.

 

Japan will now double defense spending to adopt an aggressive policy to protect itself from the growing threat from China, North Korea, and Russia. Japan's counter-strike capability is being considered the biggest change. Japan aims to achieve within 10 years the ability to preempt any attack against the country.

The counter-strike capability would end Japan's 1956 policy, under which Japan adopted a pacifist constitution after losing World War II, and in return, the US assumed responsibility for Japan's security. Under Article 9 of the Constitution of Japan, it can never use military power to settle its dispute with any country.

 

Japan says that the country is facing a major threat of missile attack and the existing interceptor-missile defense system is not enough to stop them. If seen, North Korea launched missiles more than 30 times this year alone, and one of these missiles passed over Japan. China fired ballistic missiles near the southern Japanese islands.

 

Japan says it is constitutional to have the ability to strike back. Especially after Russia attacked Ukraine, Japan is working very fast in this direction. If seen, the Western countries, including America, who incited Ukraine against Russia, are helping from a distance instead of coming together in case of war. In such a situation, Japan also feels that in such a situation, America doesn't need to help it. That's why he is changing his defense policy.

 

The attack on Ukraine has taught the world a lesson

 

Defense expert Lt Col (retd) JS Sodhi says Shinzo Abe was the first leader after World War II to say in 2007 that Japan would have to strengthen its defense budget and military to protect itself. He had said that China's intentions are not good.

 

Also, Ukraine's attack on Russia has given a lesson to countries around the world. That is, if any country is attacked, then any country thinks that a third country will come to help us. Only time will tell, usually, no third country will come to help. You have to protect yourself. In such a situation, the countries which are at risk of war, are increasing their defense budget and military power.

 

2% increase in defense budget compared to GDP

 

Japan has increased the defense budget by 2% in comparison to GDP in 5 years. Japan aims to spend $320 billion i.e. Rs 26.4 lakh crore on defense by 2027. These defense budgets are according to the standards of NATO i.e. North Atlantic Treaty Organization. With this money, the Japanese government will buy a deadly missile that can reach China.

 

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced the new defense policy by releasing an address on television. He said the government has approved three security documents to enhance Japan's defense capabilities amid an increasingly volatile security environment. First - National Security Strategy, second - National Defense Strategy, and third - Defense Force Development Plan. Japan clearly said that its focus is going to be on China.

 

Will buy 500 Tomahawk missiles from America

 

In the next five years, Japan will buy long-range missiles by spending 37 billion dollars i.e. 3 lakh crore rupees. These include talk of buying 500 Tomahawk missiles from America.

 

Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will improve and mass-produce its Type-12 surface-to-ship guided missile. Apart from this, Japan will also make new weapons. These include hypersonic weapons and unmanned aircraft.

 

Japan is changing policy to stop China's expansionist policy

 

After US Congress Speaker Nancy Pelosi visits Taiwan, last August 4, China surrounded Taiwan and conducted military exercises. During this, China fired ballistic missiles several times. Of these, 5 missiles have also fallen in the Special Economic Zone of Japan. All these missiles by China are capable of hitting their targets with great accuracy. In such a situation, it is believed that China had deliberately fired its missiles into Japanese territory.

 

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had described China's aggressive attitude as a major threat to Japan's regional peace and security. Anticipating a war over Taiwan, Japan has started rapidly increasing its military capability. That's why the budget is also being increased.

 

Not only this, on November 17, just days after two Xi Jinping and Kishida Fumio met, Chinese Coast Guard ships entered Japan's territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands.

 

Old enmity between Japan and China

The enmity between the two can also be gauged from the mood of the people living there. According to an article published in The Economist, 90% of Japanese see China as their enemy. 60% of Chinese also hold a similar opinion about Japan.

 

As mentioned above, Japan and China have fought a war with each other. It started in 1930 and ended in 1945 after the US nuclear attack. The story of Japanese atrocities in the Sino-Japanese war is long. These include rape in Nanjing as well as the use of chemical and biological weapons.

 

Apart from this, many types of experiments were also done on humans in Manchuria. Japan forced about 40 thousand Chinese laborers to work in Japanese mines and factories. Most of these died due to malnutrition and abuse.

There is a dispute between China and Japan over some islands. In Japan, these islands are known as Senkaku while the people of China know them as Xiaoyu. This island group is in the northeast of Taiwan and no one lives on them. The people of Japan have had personal control over many of the islands here.

 

These islands were once Japanese seafood factories and Japan claims them historically and according to international law. On the other hand, China says that Japan had snatched these islands from China in 1895 and they should have been returned to China after the end of World War II.

 

Along with the dense population of fish in the sea around the disputed island, oil reserves are also present. Japan alleges that in 1969, after the news of oil reserves under the sea came in the UN report, China suddenly staked its claim on the area.

 

Even when there was a treaty to normalize relations between the two countries in 1972, there was no agreement on this issue. In 2012, Japan escalated the issue by nationalizing the Senkaku Islands. This was followed by violent demonstrations across China. Chinese Coast Guard and fishing boats began prowling these areas and regularly violated Japanese territorial waters.
