It was passed after a day-long discussion. 214 votes were cast in favor of the bill, while no one voted against the bill.
Lok Sabha had passed on Wednesday
With this, the drought of the last 27 years in the path of women empowerment in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies ended and the new Parliament building created a new history of praising women's power in its very first session. Earlier, the bill had got approval from the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Lok Sabha also passed this bill with a two-thirds majority. 454 votes were cast in its favor and two against it.
