Heavy rains in many states of the country have increased the trouble of the people. Due to heavy rains in Gujarat, low-lying areas of many districts have been submerged. Heavy rains have also disrupted life in Rajasthan. People have faced problems due to rains in Delhi, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

 

Heavy rains are continuing at many places in Uttarakhand. About 26 people have died due to floods in Tripura since August 19. While 1.17 lakh people have become homeless. The situation in the Navsari and Valsad districts of Gujarat has worsened due to the rising water level of the rivers. The search for seven people who were swept away along with a tractor-trolley while crossing a submerged bridge in Morbi district is underway.

 

Many villages of Gujarat and Saurashtra were affected by floods

 

23 gates of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam have been opened. Three deaths including a woman have been reported in the last 24 hours. Apart from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, and Rajkot, many villages in South Gujarat and Saurashtra are affected by the rains.

 

Centre assures help to Gujarat government

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of all help from the central government. According to data from the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), the highest rainfall of 356 mm was recorded in Khergam of Navsari district in the last 24 hours till 6 am on Monday.

 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of light to moderate rainfall in various parts of eastern and northeastern India, including Odisha, Bihar, Bengal, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.

Cloud burst in Ramban district of Jammu, mother and two children missing

 

A mother and two children went missing after being swept away by the strong current of water due to a cloudburst in Kumate, Dharamman, and Halla Panchayats under Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Three vehicles were also washed away due to the sudden rise in the water level of the drain. Two government buildings and several houses were badly damaged.

The rescue team has been dispatched to save the missing children and their mother. The cloud burst at around 2:30 pm. Schools were closed on Monday due to the Janmashtami holiday. If there was no holiday, children and school staff would also have been caught in the flood due to the buildings of two government schools getting hit.
