India has to participate in the ODI World Cup in its hosting in October-November this year. Team India will also enter the Asia Cup before that. The good news for the Indian team management ahead of this tournament is that some of the injured players are set to make a comeback soon. Apart from fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer is also included in this list of injured players. It is believed that out of these, Bumrah and Iyer will return to the team before the Asia Cup.
According to media reports, Bumrah is close to regaining full fitness. He is set to tour with the Indian team for the T20I series in Ireland next month. Bumrah has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and has gradually started bowling more overs. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer has also started batting practice at NCA.
Bumrah is throwing 8-10 overs
Bumrah, who underwent back surgery in March, resumed bowling last month after successfully rehabbing at the NCA. His rehabilitation program is going on under the supervision of VVS Laxman, the head of cricket, BCCI. He is bowling with full gusto in the nets. He is doing eight to 10 overs continuously. The selectors and team management are looking to include Bumrah for the Asia Cup in September. In such a situation, he can go to Ireland with the Indian team. It is believed that a decision will be taken on this in the coming days.
The injury of the famous Krishna and Rahul also improved
Rohit Sharma's team is not getting the services of Bumrah from September 2022. He is out due to injury. However, now it looks like he will be back on the field soon. Last month, the news agency PTI also reported that Bumrah has started bowling lightly. At the same time, KL Rahul can also make a comeback. The fitness of fast bowler Krishna is also improving. He has also started bowling.
Had surgery done in New Zealand
Bumrah underwent surgery in New Zealand in March after recurring back problems. Since then he is going through the process of rehabilitation. Bumrah last played for India in September 2022. Then he landed in the domestic T20 match against Australia.
