KKR vs SRH: Hyderabad failed to take revenge for the final defeat from Kolkata, registering the biggest defeat.

On the strength of deadly bowling by Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakraborty, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to 120 and won the match by 80 runs. This is Hyderabad's biggest defeat in IPL. In this match played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, the defending champions, who came to bat first after losing the toss, scored 200 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad was all out in just 16.4 overs. In this way, KKR once again defeated Hyderabad. Earlier, Kolkata defeated Hyderabad to win the IPL 2024 title.

 

Hyderabad reached the last position in the points table.

The team led by Pat Cummins started this season with a win. They defeated Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs in their first match. After this, they had to face defeat in three consecutive matches. After the defeat to Kolkata, Sunrisers reached the 10th position in the points table. Their net run rate became -1.612. At the same time, KKR reached the fifth position with two wins in four matches. They have four points in their account and the net run rate has become 0.070.

Hyderabad batsmen disappointed

 

Chasing the target of 201 runs, Hyderabad batsmen performed disappointingly. For them, Heinrich Klaasen played the highest innings of 33 runs. Apart from him, Kamindu Mendis scored 27, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 19 and Pat Cummins scored 14 runs. At the same time, six batsmen could not even touch the double-digit figure. For Kolkata, Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakraborty took three wickets each while Andre Russell took two wickets. Apart from this, Harshit Rana and Sunil Narine got one success each.

Earlier, thanks to the half-century partnership of Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi and a strong innings of 60 runs by Venkatesh Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) set a target of 201 runs in front of Sunrisers Hyderabad. For Hyderabad, Mohammed Shami, Pat Cummins, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel, and Kamindu Mendis took one wicket each.

 

After losing the toss and coming to bat first, Kolkata started with a setback. Both the openers of the team returned to the pavilion in the powerplay. Pat Cummins got Quinton de Kock (1) caught by Zeeshan Ansari. After this, Mohammed Shami made Sunil Narine (7) his victim. After this, captain Ajinkya Rahane took over the front. He shared an 81-run partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi for the third wicket.

 

Rahane was dismissed after scoring 38 runs in 27 balls while Raghuvanshi completed his second half-century in 32 balls. During this, he hit five fours and two sixes. After this, Venkatesh Iyer proved to be a troubleshooter for Kolkata. He scored a half-century in just 25 balls and took the team's score close to 200. He looked in great form. The vice-captain batted at a strike rate of 206.89 and was dismissed after playing an innings of 60 runs. He was caught by Aniket Verma on the third ball of the last over by Harshal Patel. At the same time, Rinku Singh remained unbeaten after scoring 32 runs while Andre Russell was run out after scoring one run.
