After the alleged suicide of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal at Odisha's Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), the Higher Education Department has set up a 24x7 helpdesk to ensure the safety and return of students and protect their academic interests. Apart from this, KIIT announced a scholarship in memory of the student. On the other hand, Nepal's Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba requested Odisha's Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj to conduct a fair inquiry into the student's death. Let us tell you that the body of Lamsal, a 20-year-old B.Tech third-year student at KIIT, was found hanging from the ceiling of the hostel room on February 16. After this, the students protested. After the alleged suicide of the student, on Wednesday, the KIIT institute issued a statement, announcing a scholarship in the memory of the student. According to the statement of the institute, this announcement was made by Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT and Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS). Samanta also met the father and uncle of the deceased student and expressed his deep condolences. Samanta said, 'A scholarship will be started in his name as a tribute to the memory of Lamasal.'

Apart from this, a statement was issued from the secretariat of Nepali Foreign Minister Deuba on Wednesday. According to the statement, Deuba spoke to Odisha Education Minister Suryavanshi over the phone.
