Dulquer Salmaan's pan India action film 'King of Kotha' has been released in theaters today i.e. on 24th August. The booking figures for the Malayalam version of the film have become the talk of the town. As per reports, the film's booking for the first day stood at Rs 3 crore till Wednesday midnight. It has earned Rs 2.67 crore in Malayalam and Rs 27 lakh and Rs 10 lakh in Telugu and Tamil respectively. The film will be released in Hindi and Kannada as well, but no booking has been made for both of these dubs.
Along with this, it is expected that 'King of Kotha' will leave behind the two highest opening films of Malayalam, 'KGF Chapter 2' and 'Odiyan'. As per reports, the King of Kotha should earn 8 crores on the opening day, which will be the first in the history of Malayalam cinema. Considering the popularity of Dulquer in the Telugu states, it is being said that the opening of the film could exceed Rs 10 crore. The actor recently featured in the Telugu blockbuster film 'Seetha Ramam'.
So far in Malayalam, actor Mohanlal's National Award-winning film 'Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea' has collected Rs 19.50 crore on its opening day. At the same time, Dulquer Salmaan's 'Kuroop' is in second place with an opening day of Rs 18.50 crore. It is expected that his film 'King of Kotha' will leave behind both these films. If reports are to be believed, the film is expected to earn more than Rs 20 crore worldwide on its opening day.
