The rescue operation is going on since Wednesday afternoon. The missing HRTC bus after the accident was found near the Sutlej river in a damaged condition. It's just shattered. Tires, doors everything is isolated. The hope of survival of the people on the bus is very less. The rescue team has launched a search operation near the bus buried under the rubble and the bodies found in the beginning are in a mutilated condition. The rescue teams of ITBP and NDRF have started searching for the people by removing the rocks.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the exact figure of people trapped under the debris is not yet available. An operation will be conducted to rescue the injured from the army chaupar. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur left for Kinnaur from Shimla in the morning by helicopter. Apart from this, Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri, Congress MLAs Nandlal, and Vikramaditya Singh also left for Kinnaur.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will also reach the spot this morning. The CM will take stock of the site and supervise the relief and rescue operations. The administration has restored NH-5. But till now the traffic has not been smooth from here.
According to the operator, there were 24 people on the bus, so fears are being expressed that the death toll in this accident may increase further. So far 14 people have died in the accident, if all the people trapped in the bus could not be rescued, then the death toll could even cross 30.
In the accident in Kinnaur, the administration can take the help of the army today. However, NDRF personnel were also sent by the administration to the ditch towards the Sutlej river, where the bus has been found in a shattered condition. Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur said that the help of the army can be taken in the search operation.
ITBP Deputy Commandant Dharmendra Thakur said that the rescue operation has been started at 4 a.m. Three ITBP teams are working to find the people trapped in the accident in Kinnaur on Wednesday. The team started the search operation at 4 a.m. So far three bodies have been recovered during this period. They have not been identified. Three units of ITBP have gathered since early morning. So far 13 people have been rescued by the rescue team.
Four other small vehicles, including a bus and truck, were hit by the debris when the hills cracked around noon on Wednesday at Nigulsari in district Kinnaur. Rescue teams reached the spot after a lot of effort as the landslide continued for a long time after the accident.
