Prime Minister Modi says that corruption at any level affects the people of the entire country. The Prime Minister said that ending corruption is his priority. On allegations of ED action against opponents, the Prime Minister said that only three percent of ED cases are against people associated with politics. In a recent interview, PM Modi expressed confidence that BJP will register a historic victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Among the achievements of his government in the last 10 years, the Prime Minister listed the work done in the fields of development, social welfare, and infrastructure and also mentioned the achievements of removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and the construction of Ram Temple.
'Will not tolerate corruption'
The Prime Minister said that 'his government's priority in the last 10 years has been to eliminate corruption.' He said that 'Strict action will continue against corrupt people. Corruption, at whatever level, affects the people of the country. In such a situation, action should be taken against those who steal the money meant for the welfare of the country's people. The Prime Minister said that 'the fight against corruption will not stop.'
'Only three percent of ED cases are related to politics'
This statement of Prime Minister Modi has come at a time when former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal are in jail on corruption charges. Opposition parties are accusing the government of using central investigative agencies against opponents. On this, the Prime Minister rejected the allegations outright and said that only three percent of ED's cases are related to politics. The Prime Minister said, 'Action is being taken even in the states where BJP is in power. The allegations that are being made are being made only by those people who fear investigation against themselves. The Prime Minister said that 'as soon as our government was formed in 2014, we started taking action against corruption. We finished Group C and Group D interviews in Central Recruitment. We started a single window system for clearance in the country. We have tried to make government services as transparent as possible.
'In the last 10 years, ED has seized assets worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore'
Enumerating the benefits of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), i.e. sending money directly into people's bank accounts, Prime Minister Modi said that 'DBT has helped the government in removing more than 10 crore fake beneficiaries. The government has saved Rs 2.75 lakh crore from this, which was going into the wrong hands. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, 'Before 2014, ED had seized assets worth Rs 5,000 crore. In the last 10 years, the amount seized by ED has increased to more than Rs 1 lakh crore. Before 2014, ED had seized Rs 34 lakh in cash, whereas in our government, cash worth more than Rs 2200 crore has been seized. Imagine, if this money was spent for the welfare of poor people, how many people would have benefited from it? How many opportunities could have been created for the youth? How many new infrastructure projects could have been started?
