Maha Kumbh 2025: In this Udasi arena, the Panchdevas became a hundred Panchputras, and spent the night under the open sky in Digambara attire

On Monday, in Maha Kumbh, Shri Panchayati Bada Akhara Udasin witnessed the modern tradition of Dharma Dhwaj Sanyas. For the first time in this Akhara, after the Bhasm Shringar, Panch Sanskar of more than a hundred youths was performed amidst fanfare and the sound of conch shells. In the presence of Panchdevas, these youths were made Panchputras.

 

Now, following strict discipline, this young sannyasis will hold positions like Kotwal, Kothari, Bhandari, businessman, Mahant, and Mukhiya in different monasteries across the country. In the camp of Panchayati Akhara Bada Udasin Nirvana, Panchputra Sanskar started in the morning itself in the presence of Ishtdev Bhagwan Chandradev.

 

In the enclosure of the western method, Patel Gyan Muni of the youth group got all the young sannyasis adorned with Bhasm Shringar on the Dhuni. After this, the sound of conch shells started resonating along with the Narasimha musical instrument. Akash Muni, Pradwaitanand Muni started chanting mantras. Gurumatas also participated in this ritual.

 

Geeta Muni and Dr. Vibha Muni, who came from Chhattisgarh, also offered prayers to the Panchdevas and chanted mantras. Among the Panchdevas, Vishnu, Shiva, Mata Bhagwati, Ganesha and Surya were worshipped. The Akhara was made to take a pledge to follow the principles of devotion, knowledge, and detachment of the Shiva form of Shrichandra ji.

 

What is the selection process of the youth for this difficult sadhana? On this question, the head Mahant Durga Das says that only the one whom the Guru accepts becomes the disciple. In the Udasi sect, the tradition of making Panchputras after Tangtod has been going on for a long time.

 

After taking initiation, these disciples start serving their Guru. From five years to 10 years, 12 years or 24 years, whenever the Guru starts seeing the complete signs of becoming a saint in his disciple, then he is given initiation and added to the Akhara. There is a tradition of making Panchputras in the form of Nirvana saints in Maha Kumbh itself. It includes children and youth below the age of 24 years.

 

In the camp of Maha Kumbh, Panch Parmeshwar administered the oath of loyalty and dedication to Sanatan Dharma to the Panch Putras. These Panch Putras will remain without clothes under the sky at night on the banks of Sangam. They will do penance by applying Akhand Bhasmi in Maha Kumbh. On the other hand, Shankaracharya Swami Vijayendra Saraswati of Kanchi has appealed to the devotees to come in as many numbers as possible to Maha Kumbh and be a part of the event and take a dip in the holy water of Mother Ganga. But, do not compromise with its purity and sanctity.

 

He expressed heartfelt happiness over the large number of people coming to Triveni Sangam on this spiritual event organized every 12 years. He said that the importance of Ganga is deeply rooted in the Vedas, Puranas, and thousands of years of Sanatan tradition. Along with sages and saints, Lord Adi Shankaracharya also bathed in the Ganga and meditated on its banks. Shankaracharya said that Ganga is not just a river but a pilgrimage site on the sacred land of India.

 

Mahakumbh is a faith cherished by devotees for generations.

 

From a spiritual point of view, bathing at the Triveni Sangam is considered a means of earning virtue and receiving God\'s blessings. He mentioned the incident of 36 years ago when the aged Shankaracharya Swami Chandrashekharendra Saraswati could not attend the Mahakumbh due to age. At that time, Ganga water from Triveni was brought to Kanchi in a special plane so that he could take a symbolic bath. He said that this unwavering faith towards Ganga and Mahakumbh is a symbol of our spiritual vision, which has been cherished by devotees for generations.
