Will Jasprit Bumrah play or be rested? Big update ahead of India vs West Indies Test series

Will Jasprit Bumrah play in the Test series against the West Indies? Indian team assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate broke his silence on the fast bowler's availability for the upcoming two-match series. The Test series between India and the West Indies begins on October 2.

Before the Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2025 between India and Bangladesh, Doeschate said that it would be difficult for Bumrah to rest. "It's unlikely that Bumrah will rest. He will play the Test series against the West Indies. We have important matches coming up, so it's better for him to play and get more match time," Doeschate said.

Schedule against the West Indies

The Indian team will play the first Test against the West Indies on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The second and final Test between the two teams will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 10.

Indian Team Improving

Ryan ten Doeschate praised the Indian team for maintaining its winning streak in the Asia Cup 2025, but stressed that despite two consecutive victories over Pakistan, the team is focused on improving.

Our fielding was a bit poor against Pakistan. We didn't perform well. Last week was difficult. But the way the boys performed in those two matches was excellent. Abu Dhabi wasn't ideal. It took us time to travel and refresh ourselves. Shubman Gill also didn't get the desired preparation. He came here wanting to practice a little.

Team Changes Difficult

The assistant coach addressed India's approach to squad rotation. He said, "We tried to give everyone a chance against Oman. In a bilateral series, you can test your bench strength. But that's difficult in the Asia Cup."
