US-based terrorist Harpreet Singh alias Happy Pasia has been arrested. The FBI and the US Immigration Department have taken him into their custody. He is responsible for 14 terrorist attacks in Punjab in the last six months. The terrorist is one of India's most wanted terrorists. There was a reward of Rs 5 lakh for him. He is currently in the custody of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). According to sources, Happy Pasia carried out terrorist attacks in collaboration with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and Babbar Khalsa International. Happy Pasia carried out several terrorist attacks on police establishments in Punjab and took responsibility for them on social media.
Happy's name was on the NIA chargesheet.
Earlier on March 23, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet against four terrorist operatives of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist organization in the 2024 Chandigarh grenade attack case. The accused in the chargesheet filed include Pakistan-based designated individual terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda and US-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Pasia. Both were the main operators and conspirators behind the terror attack. They had provided logistical support, terror funds, arms, and ammunition to India-based ground operatives in Chandigarh to carry out the grenade attack. The September 2024 attack aimed to target a retired Punjab Police officer.
Conspired to spread terror among the public
The investigation revealed that Rinda, along with Happy Pasia, had conspired to spread terror among law enforcement officials and the general public through the grenade attack. He aimed to promote the terrorist agenda of the BKI. They recruited local operatives named Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, who were tasked to attack their direct instructions. The investigation revealed that Rinda and Happy had instructed the other accused, Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, to conduct reconnaissance of the target twice before hurling the grenade.
The terror module busted last December.
Earlier in December last year, the Punjab Police had busted a Pakistan-ISI-backed terror module operating on behalf of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) run by Harpreet Singh alias Happy Pasia and Shamsher alias Honey. This included the arrest of five of its members including mastermind Abhijot Singh. All of them were involved in hurling hand grenades at two police establishments in Batala and Gurdaspur.
