Manipur Violence: Eight more companies of central forces reached Manipur, will be deployed in sensitive areas

Central forces have been deployed in the state due to increasing violence after the bodies of three women of the Meitei community were found in the Jiribam district of Manipur. Officials said that eight more companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) reached Imphal on Wednesday. A day earlier, 11 companies of CAPF had reached Imphal. These forces, consisting of CRPF and BSF companies, will be deployed in sensitive and border areas of the state.

 

Officials said that four companies each of CRPF and BSF, which reached Imphal, will be deployed in sensitive and border areas of the state. One of the CRPF companies is the women's battalion.

 

The Center had announced to sending of 50 new companies of CAPF

 

Recently, the Center announced to sending of 50 new companies of CAPF to Manipur. This step was taken when violence intensified in Manipur. Last week, Congress and BJP offices were vandalized in the hill district of Jiribam in the state. After this, angry mobs set fire to the houses of BJP and Congress leaders in various areas of Imphal Valley, and curfew was imposed there.

 

Security forces foiled an attempt to attack the house of Manipur Chief Minister on Saturday evening.

 

Violence increased after the firing on November 11

 

On November 11, there was a firing between security forces and suspected Kuki-Jo terrorists in Jiribam district. 10 rebels were killed in this firing. At the same time, three women and three children of the Meitei community went missing from a relief camp, after which the violence increased.

 

220 people have died in ethnic violence

 

Let us tell you that since May last year, more than 220 people have died and thousands have become homeless in ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Jo communities in Imphal Valley.
