Agra, Feb 15 (IANS) Media must introspect and take corrective measures as its credibility was declining and the values that inspired journalism in the pre-independence era, when it was considered a mission, were being eroded, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik said Sunday.
Addressing a meeting of journalists here, he also said that the electronic media with its addiction for breaking news, needs to rethink and be cautious.
As the mass media was a mirror of society and had great impact on public opinion, the journalists should be more sensitive and alive to their responsibilities and use their skills in the interests of the society, said Naik.
Noting that fewer readers now were interested in editorials, he urged print media to become aware of its relevance and clout.
