India's top diplomat in China met a senior Chinese Foreign Ministry official ahead of the crucial Congress of the ruling Communist Party and exchanged views on bilateral relations, and the international and regional situation in a friendly manner. According to a release issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, Indian Ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat met the Director General of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of External Affairs Liu Jinsang on Tuesday.
According to the release, both sides have not said anything about the specific topics that came up during the discussion in the meeting. The meeting is considered important as China is preparing for the Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to be held once in five years. Policy guidelines on national and international issues are set in this Congress. It is believed that Chinese President Xi Jinping can be elected for the third consecutive term in this conference.
