About Rs 2,26,813 crore was spent on wheat during the tenure of the UPA government, while Rs 5,44,332 crore was spent during the tenure of the Modi government.

During the tenure of the Modi government, more than a 100 percent increase in food storage capacity was also recorded. Apart from this, the government last year started a plan to develop 700 lakh tonnes of grain storage capacity in the cooperative sector.
