Seven pilots of IndiGo airline have been found allegedly using abusive language on salary-related issues. Emergency frequencies were used by the pilots for these things. A report released on Thursday quoted sources as saying that all (pilots) were found expressing their anger in objectionable language at the '121.5 MHz frequency' over the issue of low wages.
It is worth noting that this frequency is used for emergency communication when the aircraft is in trouble. But it was used by the pilots for mutual conversation. The report said that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is strict about this and has ordered an inquiry into the matter. However, there has been no comment from Indigo Airlines on this entire episode.
According to the report, this incident happened on April 9. Please note that this frequency is compulsorily monitored by the Air Traffic Controller (ATC). That day, the pilots of Indigo flights were talking among themselves on the same radio frequency. It is through this monitoring process that this informal conversation of the pilots has come to the fore. The frequency of 123.45 MHz is fixed for the interaction of the pilots, which is not monitored by ATC.
Along with this, on Thursday, the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) has written a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia requesting. ALPA has asked that justice be served to our fellow aviators who have been forced to resign the following suspension from Indigo Airlines.
