On Wednesday, Prime Minister-elect Modi called Ranil Wickremesinghe and invited him to the swearing-in ceremony, PTI reported, citing sources.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited President Wickremesinghe to his swearing-in ceremony, which was accepted by the UNP President, Sri Lanka's President's Office said.
According to an ANI report, Modi also spoke to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the phone and the two leaders agreed to continue working together to achieve the vision of 'Developed India 2047' and 'Smart Bangladesh 2041'.
Sheikh Hasina, who was among the first foreign leaders to congratulate Modi on the NDA's victory, accepted the invitation to attend his swearing-in ceremony.
Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth are also likely to be invited.
Formal invitations to foreign leaders will be sent on Thursday.
