Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Namibia's capital Windhoek this morning. He was given a grand welcome here. This is his first visit to Namibia and the third visit by an Indian Prime Minister.
PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Hoshia Kutako International Airport. During this visit, he will hold important talks with President Nandi-Ndaitwah and pay tribute to Namibia's first President and founder, late Dr. Sam Nujoma. Apart from this, he will also address Namibia's Parliament.
India's eye on uranium import
According to the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit of PM Modi will further strengthen the deep and old relations between India and Namibia. This visit will take India's friendship with Namibia to new heights.
Regarding PM Modi's visit, India's High Commissioner to Namibia, Rahul Srivastava said that India is considering importing uranium from Namibia. Along with this, the Indian government is also interested in the recent discovery of oil and gas in Namibia. The Indian High Commissioner said that India is also interested in Namibia's critical minerals. The two countries have historically had good relations.
Earlier, PM Modi completed a two-day official visit to Brazil, where he attended the 17th BRICS Summit and held talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
