Vikram Sahai said that it is like an information war spreading propaganda against India. Continuous monitoring is being done by intelligence agencies.
Earlier on January 19, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur had said that the government would continue to act against those "conspirators" against the country. He had said, "I had ordered action against him. ... I am glad that many big countries around the world have taken cognizance of this. YouTube also came forward and took action to block them.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry in December last year, in a coordinated effort with intelligence agencies, ordered the blocking of 20 YouTube channels and two websites as they were spreading anti-India propaganda and fake news.
The ministry had said these channels were being used to "coordinately post divisive content on topics like Kashmir, Indian Army, minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, General Bipin Rawat, etc".
