Modi said- United Nations is facing a crisis of trust, cannot face the current challenges without major reforms

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the United Nations (UN) is facing a crisis of trust and this should be noted. The Prime Minister said this in a four-minute video message. The message was telecast live from the UN Headoffice at three in the morning on Tuesday, at the 75th anniversary of the UN General Assembly.

 

This message of Modi was already recorded. He said, "We cannot meet today's challenges with the old system. If major reforms do not take place, trust in the UN is in danger of being eroded. He said that today's world is interlinked, so we need a multilateral system in which the reality of today is seen, the voice of all is heard, which deals with the current challenges and focuses on human welfare. "Prime Minister Said that India is ready to work together with all countries in this direction.

 

Also praised the U.N.

Modi showed the mirror to the UN and praised it. He said that the UN has reflected the thinking of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam of India. This thinking is about seeing the world as a family. Today the world is a better place because of the UN. We pay tribute to all those who worked for peace and development. India contributed further to this.

 

Modi said, "The work we are doing today is being accepted, but more work needs to be done on issues like preventing conflict, determining development, climate change, reducing inequality, and taking advantage of digital technology."

 

Special session of Mahasabha started

A special session has been called on the 75th anniversary of the UN. Its virtual meeting has started from Monday. For the first time, UN programs are going virtual due to the Corona epidemic. In this, the heads of all countries will address the gathering through video conferencing.

 

India is a temporary member of the UN Security Council

India was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in June this year. Of the 193 countries included in the General Assembly, 184 countries supported India. India has been elected as a provisional member for two years. Ireland, Mexico, and Norway were also elected provisional members along with India. India was earlier elected provisional member of the United Nations General Assembly in 1950–51, 1967–68, 1972–73, 1977–78, 1984–85, 1991–92, and 2011–12.

 

Total 15 countries in the Security Council

There are a total of 15 countries on the United Nations Security Council. It has five permanent members. These are America, Russia, France, Britain, and China. 10 countries have been given temporary membership. Five temporary members are elected every year. The tenure of temporary members is two years.
