
An auto rickshaw and a truck collided head-on in a village in Karnataka's Chittaguppa taluk late on Friday night. In this accident, 7 women died and 11 others were injured. These women were laborers and were returning home after working in an auto-rickshaw when Bemalakheda collided with a truck near the government school.
The deceased have been identified as Parvati (40), Prabhavati (36), Gundamma (60), Yadamma (40), Jagamma (34), Eshwaramma (55) and Rukmini Bai (60), police said. The drivers of both vehicles were also among the 11 injured. Police said that the condition of two of the injured is said to be serious. The case has been registered.
Road accident cases on the rise in Karnataka
On August 15 this year, a major accident took place in Bidar itself, in which 5 people were killed and 4 were injured near the Bangur check post on the Hyderabad-Mumbai National Highway. All those who died belonged to the same family. The car driver also died on the spot. All were residents of Begumpet, a city in Hyderabad.

Earlier, in another case, nine people were killed in a head-on collision between a tempo passenger vehicle and a KMF milk vehicle late on October 16 in the Hassan district of Karnataka. Seven people were from Salapura village and two were from Doddihalli village.
A major road accident happened on 25 October
