The sand mafia, mining mafia, and cow smugglers have defied the entire system. The state governments, their administration, and the entire process of taking action against the mafia seem to have been eroded.
Recently, the mining mafia crushed DSP level police officer Surendra Singh under a dumper in Nuh, Haryana. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, on Wednesday morning, a woman sub-inspector Sandhya was crushed to death by cow smugglers under her vehicle on the middle road.
Governments keep blaming the previous governments behind these unfortunate incidents. In Haryana itself, there were 539 incidents of illegal mining in 2020. Such incidents increased to 910 in 2021. What did the government do? One, two, or four people are immediately arrested, but the mafia is not exposed.
The surprising thing is that the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is silent on the incident in Haryana, alleges in the Jharkhand case that cow smugglers have the protection of the state government, so such incidents are happening. Maybe BJP is right, then the question arises that why this kind of smuggling does not stop in BJP-ruled states?
A few years ago, the sand mafia crushed an IPS officer under a tractor in Morena, Madhya Pradesh. So did illegal sand mining stop in Madhya Pradesh after this incident?
Still going on in full swing. Throughout the night sand dumpers move around. The backs of rivers like Narmada and Tawa were broken. Their chests were dug up, but no strict action against the illegal mining mafia has been heard till now.
True, no government wants the sand mafia to flourish, the mining mafia to flourish or the cow smugglers to keep doing their arbitrariness, but despite this, all this has happened! But why? This means that there are holes somewhere or many in our system itself.
Then why do not the governments or their responsible ministers, and officers, instead of letting the mountains and rivers themselves fill these holes in the system? Why do we always seem compelled in front of the mafia? Can a mafia, a smuggler, be more powerful or more resourceful than our system of governance? No.
Then what is the reason that strict action is not taken against them immediately? Why the courts do not deal with the cases related to these on a priority basis. At the earliest, if the harshest punishment is given, then surely this problem can be solved, otherwise, everyone is watching the system as it is going on for years!
