'My phone was spied on by Pegasus', Rahul Gandhi said in Cambridge University - Democracy in India is in danger

Rahul has expressed concern about the state of democracy in India in his speech at the university. He also alleged that his phone was also snooped through Pegasus and this was informed by the intelligence officers themselves.

In a speech at the University of London, Rahul Gandhi further said that people from opposition parties in India are being falsely implicated and threatened. He said that we constantly feel pressure as wrong cases are being filed against the opposition. Rahul said that criminal cases are being registered against me without any reason.

Rahul said that democracy is in danger in India. He said that it is a living example that the way the people of the opposition are being implicated is wrong. He said that the media and the democratic structure were under attack, making it very difficult to communicate with the people.

 

Phones of other leaders are also being spied on

The Congress leader further said that a large number of political leaders are being spied on by putting Pegasus in their phones. Rahul said that Pegasus was also in my phone and this information was given by the intelligence officers themselves. He said that the officers had told him to be careful, as the phone recording was being done.

Let us tell you that Pegasus is an espionage software, which is also known as spyware. It is made by the Israeli company NSO Group. By putting this spyware in anyone's phone, it can be spied on. In the past, a report claimed that in India too, in 2019, 1400 people's phones were spied through it, which included people like many big leaders, security officers, industrialists, and journalists.

 

However, the matter had reached the Supreme Court and the court had got the matter investigated by the technical team, in which the issue of espionage was not revealed.
