Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli's statement that Lord Ram is a Nepali has given a new lease of politics in the name of Ram. The reality is that Lord Rama was born in Ayodhya, which is in Uttar Pradesh. The claim of PM Oli of Nepal is also breathless, because, in November 2019, the Supreme Court in the judgment of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute accepted that Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram.
In this decision, along with the reports of archaeologists, references like Valmiki Ramayana, Skanda Purana, Padmapuran, Mahabharata, and Ramcharitmanas have also been taken. Ayodhya's location in Valmiki Ramayana is near the river Saryu. The river Saryu is mentioned many times in the Ramayana. There are many texts, many verses which indicate that Rama was born in Ayodhya and that Ayodhya exists in India itself.
Nepal and Ram's relationship
It is not that Rama has no relation with Nepal. Janakpur of Nepal is considered to be the in-law of Rama. The palace of King Janak is still here. In which scenes during Sita Swayamvara are alive. Some pieces of that bow are also stored here, which Rama broke during Sita Swayamvar. Nepal's faith in this place is immense. Ram is the son-in-law of Nepal. But, not the son. Because of the path described by Ram Baaraat in Valmiki Ramayana, it comes from Janakpur to Magadha (present-day Bihar) via Awadh (Ayodhya).
Ayodhya in the 7th-century book Skanda Purana
Not only the Valmiki Ramayana, but also the Skanda Purana, the place where Rama's birth is written is Ayodhya. Archaeologists and historians believe that this book was written between the 7th and 9th centuries. The 18–19th verse of the Vaishnavakanda of the Ayodhya Mahatmya of Skanda Purana states that the land where Rama was born in the north of Vashistha Ashram and west of Lomash Ashram and east of Vighneshwar. Valmiki Ramayana 300 to 200 years before Christ
The Valmiki Ramayana is the most prominent and oldest book in the life of Lord Rama. Its creation is believed to be from 300 to 200 years before Christ. It is considered to be earlier than Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagwat. The verses 8 through 12 of the 18th chapter of the Balmand of Valmiki Ramayana are about Ramjanma and Ayodhya. The Supreme Court has also taken the 10th verse as a reference in its decision.
Location of Saryu river and construction of Ayodhya
According to Ujjain's Sanskritist Dr. Rishi Tiwari, a complete description of the city of Ayodhya is available. Saryu has been considered a virtuous river. A part of this river is also known as the Ghaghra River. There is a clear mention in the Valmiki Ramayana that Ayodhya is situated on the banks of Saryu.
Ayodhya is the birthplace even in the Ramcharit Manas
Ramcharitmanas written by Tulsidas also tells Ayodhya, the birthplace of Rama. The deity stricken by Ravana goes to Lord Brahma for help and God assures him. Pleased with the praise of Brahma, Lord Vishnu through the heavens endures the gods and the earth, assuring me that I will incarnate as Rama. It is mentioned in the post-186th couplets of Balkans.
