From the academic session 2022-23 in central universities, now admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs will be done based on the merit of the Joint Entrance Examination. The admission pattern in universities and higher educational institutions are going to change from the coming session.
Under the New Education Policy 2020, the aim is to provide quality education, equal opportunities to all, get rid of high cutoffs, and link the admission applications of all universities with a single platform.
Admission to undergraduate programs in all central universities will be made mandatory based on merit in the Joint Entrance Examination. Whereas this year universities will get the option in the postgraduate program. In this, they will be able to get admission through Joint Entrance Examination or University Entrance Examination.
According to sources, there will be a new pattern of admission in undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs in the upcoming academic session. The University Grants Commission is soon going to issue the notification regarding admission in undergraduate, postgraduate programs. A high-level meeting has been organized in this regard.

Whereas in post-graduation, universities are being given some relief this year. This year they will also be able to enroll through their entrance exam. But from next year the Joint Admission Entrance Test to be conducted by NTA will be mandatory.
