The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued cautionary instructions to check the increasing incidents of student suicides in medical colleges. The Commission has said that the colleges which have not provided the information till now, have been given one week's last chance. After this, the commission will be free to take action as per the rules.

Last month, the NMC issued an order to check the incidents of suicides in government and private medical colleges, the details of the incidents that happened in the last five years, and the interim report of the colleges regarding them.

According to the NMC, many colleges in the country have not even shared the duty roster of resident doctors, for which the commission has written thrice to the college management. Giving the last warning to them, the duty roster of MBBS, PG has been sought immediately, so that it can be known how many hours a week the resident doctors have to work.
