Congress: 'UDAN scheme not working on 93% routes,' Kharge targets government citing CAG report

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday claimed that a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report said that the Centre's 'Udaan' scheme was not working on 93 percent of routes. He said that the common people got only lies and jumlas from the government.

 

The scheme was launched in 2016

A regional connectivity initiative named UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) was launched by the Central Government on October 21, 2016, to encourage regional air connectivity and make air travel affordable for the public in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and towns The plan was launched. He tweeted, 'Did not get the flight, just talked about lies and jumlas! India will no longer forgive such an incompetent government.

 

The government could not fulfill the promises: Kharge

Mallikarjun Kharge said the Modi government's promise of providing air travel facilities to wearers of 'Hawai Chappal' has not been fulfilled 'like all its promises'. He said, 'We are not saying this, the CAG report is saying this. The scheme (UDAN) could not work on 93 percent of routes. Even an independent audit of the airlines was not done. The much-publicized helicopter services also came to a standstill. He tweeted, 'Did not get the flight, just talked about lies and jumlas! India will no longer forgive such an incompetent government.

 

 

Scams should be investigated: Congress

Earlier on Wednesday, the Congress also alleged that the CAG has pointed out "scams" in infrastructure projects of the BJP-led central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be held accountable. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate had said that the alleged scams should be probed and accountability should be fixed.
