The Indian cricket team is touring Australia to play three ODIs and five T20Is. The ODI series begins on October 19th, with the first match in Perth. This series marks the return of veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to international cricket. Ahead of the ODI series, Team India departed for Australia from Delhi today in two separate batches. Some players flew in the morning, while others will depart in the evening.

A video from news agency ANI shows Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli departing with the team from Delhi. Kohli recently returned from London to be with his family, while Rohit arrived in Delhi from Mumbai. Both will only play the ODI series, having retired from T20 and Test cricket. This will be their first match since the IPL 2025.

IND vs AUS ODI: Indian team departs for Australia in batches

In fact, most of the Indian players were already in Delhi, having played in the recently concluded second Test against the West Indies. New ODI captain Shubman Gill is among them. The video shows Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jadeja, Arshdeep Singh, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, and support staff.

Discussions continue regarding Rohit and Kohli's ODI futures.

It's worth noting that discussions are ongoing regarding Kohli and Rohit's ODI futures, as Rohit will be 40 and Kohli 38 by the 2027 World Cup. However, after winning the two-match Test series against the West Indies, coach Gautam Gambhir said that now is not the time to talk about the future. The focus is currently on the Australia series.

He also said that the 50-over World Cup is still two and a half years away. We should focus on the present. Both Rohit and Kohli are experienced players, and their experience will be very useful in Australia. Hopefully, they will perform well and lead the team to success.
