While issuing a new national security policy, Pakistan has warned India and said that if India does not take the right steps towards improving relations, then it will suffer the most.
According to Pakistan's National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf, in the new policy, "the basis of relations between the two countries has been told to Jammu and Kashmir".
Pakistan's security policy is for five years but it has taken seven years to prepare it.
The news agency PTI, quoting Pakistan's 'The Express Tribune' newspaper, has informed that regarding the new policy, Yusuf said, "It has described Jammu and Kashmir as the basis of two-way relations."
On the other hand, in a conversation with BBC correspondent Shumaila Jaffrey in Islamabad, Pakistani officials claimed that Pakistan's "new security policy does not mention any particular country".
Pakistani officials told the BBC that they want to maintain better relations with all countries, including India.
However, these officials also claimed that if relations do not improve, "India will also suffer".
'Danger from India'
On the other hand, PTI has referred to the report in 'The Express Tribune' and told that when Pakistan's National Security Advisor Yusuf was asked what message has been given to India in the new policy, he said, It has been said that he should take the right steps. Take advantage of regional connectivity for the benefit of the people."
According to the newspaper, the message for India in the new policy is that 'if you do not take the right steps, it will be a matter of loss for the entire region, but India will suffer the most.'
In Pakistan's new security policy, threats from India have been counted as 'spreading misinformation, using aggressive policy to gain an advantage in Hindutva and domestic politics'.
What did Imran Khan say?
Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday released a part of the new policy (2022-2026) and said, "The biggest security is that people stand up for the country. This situation can be brought through inclusive development." "
Imran Khan said that the focus of the new security policy is on strengthening the country's economy and from now onwards, the focus will be on pursuing 'economic diplomacy' in foreign policy as well.
According to the Government of Pakistan, this policy has been prepared with the consent of the military and civil administration and it was being prepared from the year 2014. Last month, this policy was approved by the cabinet and the National Security Committee also approved it.
The hundred-page original version of the new policy has been kept confidential.
The Government of Pakistan claims that for the first time, a national security policy has been prepared giving priority to 'civilian interests' and through this Pakistan wants to bring its decaying economy back on track. He also wants to improve his picture in the world.
Earlier, the security policy of Pakistan was prepared to keep in mind the development of military capabilities only. It is a common opinion that the military has a major role in the security and foreign policy in Pakistan. Since the advent of Pakistan, the country's command has been in the hands of military rulers for more than half the time.
Imran Khan said, "Our armed forces are our pride. They keep the whole country united. Because of the dangers we face in this region and the kind of threats that are increasing, they get more importance and support from our side." Will keep getting."
What are the issues focused on?
Imran Khan said that Pakistan's national security has been clearly explained in the new documents.
Imran Khan said that his government's 'focus is on the vulnerable sections and his government has brought health cards for the poor. He said that it is also necessary to maintain the rule of law for progress and prosperity.
Describing the importance of the new policy, Imran Khan said, "We go to the IMF under pressure and accept its strict conditions for taking loans. This affects national security. Even if it is not related to security forces but you have to put a burden on your people."
He said, "In the eyes of the government, the security of the people in the security of Pakistan. People should get good administration. The National Security Committee will continuously review its progress," he said.
National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf said that all the issues which have affected the security of Pakistan, all have been addressed in the new policy. "Geo-strategic and geopolitical aspects have also been taken care of to secure Pakistan's security and strengthen its position in the world."
Analysis by BBC correspondent Shumaila Jaffrey
In the security policy of Pakistan issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, a part of the policy has not been made public.
This will be a document that will reveal the future direction of Pakistan. The most important thing in this is that Pakistan's focus has always been as a 'Security State' but for the first time the core of 'Security Structure' has been changed.
It is being said that this focus will be changed from 'Geo Politics' to 'Geo Economics'. There is an understanding in Pakistan that as strong as Pakistan is military, if its economy is not strong then it cannot defend its independence and sovereignty. The most important aspect in 'Jio Economics' is 'Regional Connectivity.
It says that a lot of attention will be given to connectivity. Pakistan will be developed as a 'Trade and Energy Corridor'.
The neighboring countries of Pakistan are China and India. These are big economies. These can be combined with the countries of Central Asia rich in energy.
In this policy, nothing has been said about India or any particular country, what kind of relations will be maintained with them.
But when we talked to very senior officials of the National Security Division, they said that Pakistan wants peaceful relations with all its neighboring countries.
It is understood by all that relations with India and stability in Afghanistan are both important for regional connectivity, but as of now, it seems unlikely that progress in this direction is visible shortly, especially in terms of relations with India, where Indian The Janata Party-led government is using Pakistan for domestic politics. The government of India uses the issue of relations with Pakistan in politics to increase its popularity.
Officials say that if the relations do not improve, then the loss will be not only of Pakistan but also of India.
