At a school in Mexico, a 14-year-old student was burnt alive in a classroom by two of his peers. Both the students burnt the student only because he was speaking to them in his mother tongue.
alcohol was poured onto the seat
According to officials, the incident took place in June and Juan Zamorano, a student with severe burns, has now been discharged from the hospital. Zamorano's family said that when he sat in his seat in the classroom, his pants were wet. Two students had poured liquor on his seat. As soon as Zamorano got up from his seat, the two students set him on fire.
The teacher also used to make racist comments
Zamorano's parents said that our son had been facing racist comments at school for several weeks. School teachers also harassed him. They think that we are not of their status nor their race. Now the family has filed a case against the school authorities and the students who burnt the Zamorano.
Zamorano is from the Otomi community. Their number in Mexico is 3.5 lakh. Like the Otomi, there are many other communities in Mexico. Zamorano's relatives said that we speak Otomi. Zamorano does not like to use this language, as it makes him a victim of racial remarks, exploitation, and bullying.
