In the investigation of the brutal murder of Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, many big revelations are coming one after the other. Now it has come to the fore that apart from Riyaz Attari, other conspirators of the murder used to make calls to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia using virtual proxy servers. The killers used to talk on the phone to a Pakistani national, who he had met in Saudi Arabia. Attari, who killed Kanhaiya by slitting his throat, had gone to Saudi in 2019 after selling his land, where he met the man.
Investigations by security agencies have revealed that some of the conspirators who helped Riyaz used VPNs on their mobile phones to hide their Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. He also made calls to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan a few days before Kanhaiyalal's murder using a VPN. The decision to kill Kanhaiya Lal was taken at a meeting of the local Anjuman after a rally against Nupur Sharma on June 20. Although the killers had gone to Kanhaiya Lal's shop to behead him on June 26, Kanhaiya did not go to the shop that day.
Both the killers were followers of Dawat-e-Islami
The forensic report of the electronic devices confiscated from the accused is yet to come out but it is now clear that Attari had met Omar, a Pakistani national of Sindh in Saudi Arabia in 2019. At the same time, Ghaus went to Saudi Arabia in 2013 and 2019. Apart from this, both had gone to Karachi in Pakistan to participate in a program of Dawat-e-Islami in 2014. Both the killers were followers of Dawat-e-Islami.
Dawat-e-Islami's connection with Bareilly
Dawat-e-Islami runs a movement in the Indian subcontinent following the path of Ahmed Raza Khan, the founder of the Barelvi movement. Raza Khan was born in Bareilly in the 19th century. Attari had also joined the SDPI, the political wing of the extremist organization PFI group, in 2019. Interestingly, the PFI-SDFI link is common between Riyaz Attari, the killers of Amravati pharmacist Umesh Kolhe and Khadim Sarwar Chishti of Ajmer Sufi Dargah.
