Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Thailand and Sri Lanka next month. An official announcement has been made regarding this. PM Modi will first visit Thailand and then Sri Lanka. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, on the invitation of Thailand's Prime Minister Patongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister Modi will attend the sixth BIMSTEC summit to be held on 4 April 2025. For this, PM Modi will visit Bangkok from 3 to 4 April. This summit will be hosted by the current BIMSTEC chairman Thailand. This will be the Prime Minister's third visit to Thailand. After this, PM Modi will leave for Colombo. The Prime Minister will be on a state visit to Sri Lanka from 4 to 6 April 2025 at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka.
Modi's fourth visit to the island nation since 2015
This will be Prime Minister Modi's fourth visit to the island nation since 2015. Earlier, PM Modi visited Sri Lanka in 2015, 2017 and 2019. This visit is taking place at a time when the issue of arrest of fishermen is hot between India and Sri Lanka. Due to this, there is tension between the two countries. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written several letters to Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar asking him to work towards finding a permanent solution to the issue.
