PM Modi said on the death of Shinzo Abe - lost a friend, a day's national mourning

Shinzo Abe passes away: The world has been stunned by the news of the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shindo Abe after being shot. PM Narendra Modi has expressed grief over his sudden death. The PM tweeted that he and I had a relationship for many years. I knew him since the time he was the CM of Gujarat. In his tweet, the PM declared national mourning on 9 July.

 

While addressing an event in the city of Nara on Friday morning, Shinzo Abe was shot from behind by a man. Abe had received two bullets in the chest in the attack. Doctors could not save Abe even after the operation which lasted for almost 6 hours. Then the official notification of his death was released. The world mourns the sudden demise of Abe. PM Modi also expressed deep respect for Abe and expressed grief over his death.

 

Tomorrow is a day of national mourning

 

PM Modi has announced a day of national mourning tomorrow i.e. on 9th July by tweeting. On the death of former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, PM Modi tweeted, 'My association with Mr. Abe goes back many years. I knew him during my tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and our friendship continued even after I became the PM. His sharp insights on the economy and global affairs have always left a deep impression on me.

 

PM Modi further wrote, 'Mr. Abe made a huge contribution to elevating India-Japan relations to the level of a special strategic and global partnership. Today the whole of India mourns with Japan and we stand with our Japanese brothers and sisters in this difficult time.

 

Significantly, 67-year-old Shinzo Abe was the longest-serving PM of Japan. He was the PM from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2012 to 2020. His grandfather was also the Prime Minister of Japan and then his father was the Foreign Minister of Japan. On the other hand, the police immediately arrested the person who attacked Abe. The 41-year-old accused was identified as Tetsuya Yamagami.
