After the no-confidence motion was rejected and the National Assembly was dissolved, the matter has now reached the Supreme Court. The opposition has raised questions on the Speaker's decision to dissolve the motion, after which the SC will hear again today. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has refused to hold elections within 3 months. According to the ECP, after the recent delimitation, at least 6 months is required to conduct general elections in the country.

Earlier on Monday, a remark by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) increased the problems of Imran Khan. CJP Omar Ata Bandial said- Speaker rejected the no-confidence motion citing Article 5 of the Constitution. This Bench is of the view that the no-confidence motion cannot be dismissed even if Article 5 is invoked.

Court angry on absurd argument

Babar Awan, the lawyer for Imran's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said- Our Attorney General had assured in this court on March 21 that we will not stop anyone from coming to the House. That's what we did. Now it is the decision of the speaker whether he gets to vote or not.

The Chief Justice termed their argument of Awan as absurd. Said- Your arguments are not related to this matter. The Prime Minister has asked me to make it clear to you that we are ready for elections. On this, the Chief Justice said- The judges have nothing to do with your politics. We are hearing about the constitution and rules here.

the only way forward

From Monday's stand of the Supreme Court, it seems that it can order voting on the no-confidence motion. If this happens then the situation will become very difficult. Constitution expert and journalist Murtaza Solangi told Geo News – If the court orders voting on the no-confidence motion, it means that the Parliament should be restored. The defeat of the government is certain and that is why it is running away from voting. In such a situation, it has to be seen what is the role of the army, because he has saved Imran till now.
