K Ponmudi is the Minister of Higher Education in the Government of Tamil Nadu. As per media reports, the ED raided nine locations in K Ponmudi. Apart from K Ponmudi, the premises of his relatives and friends were also raided. The 72-year-old minister is the MLA from Tirukkoyilur seat in Villupuram district and his son Sigamani is the MP from Kallakuruchi seat. Let us tell you that the state police had lodged a complaint of corruption against K Ponmudi. The minister had approached the Madras High Court against this but the Madras High Court refused to stay the action. The minister is alleged to have obtained mining licenses for his son and other family members. Along with this, the licensees were also allowed to do mining over the prescribed limit. The DMK, on the other hand, termed the ED's action as politically motivated and said that they are not afraid of it.
