New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated the Indian cricket team for their eight-wicket victory against Ireland in a World Cup Pool B game.
The president in his message to the team congratulated them for winning five games on the trot in the quadrennial tournament.
“Bravo & well done Team India on the 5th straight win in the ICC World Cup 2015 by winning today's match against Ireland,” Mukherjee tweeted.
“Superb all-round performance. Congrats Team India! Keep up the momentum,” posted Modi.
A good bowling performance and knocks from openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma ensured India muster a eight-wicket victory against Ireland to win their fifth consecutive game on a batting friendly wicket at the Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Chasing a total of 259, India rode on Sharma’s 64 and Dhawan’s 103 runs to ease past the score. Earlier pace spearhead Mohammed Shami and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up figures of 3-41 and 2-38 respectively to bowl out Ireland.
